Overview
Advances in modern technology have generated large data sets with high volumes of repeated measurements indexed by time points or spatial locations. Measurements on distinct entities, often in the forms of curves or images, are considered as realizations of random functions. Functional data analysis (FDA) is the collection of methodology to analyze such data. There have been many seminal papers and monographs outlining some fundamental theories and methods in this area. In the past two decades, FDA methods have been widely used in many application domains, including medicine, biology, public health, engineering, finance, economics, and environmental sciences.
In this two-week program, we will focus on the advances in statistical methods for FDA. The specific goal of the proposed workshop will be to equip researchers in FDA with the cutting-edge methods to better conduct theoretical and applied analysis.
