Overview
The Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS), in collaboration with the Forschungsinstitut für Mathematik (FIM) at ETH Zürich, will host the inaugural FIM–IMS Joint Workshop on Mathematics of Data Science. This two-week event brings together researchers from Singapore and Switzerland, along with leading international scientists, to strengthen collaboration between the two mathematical communities and engage with the wider research community.
The first week will be devoted to a workshop on fundamental mathematical problems in data science, including generative models, high-dimensional inference, non-convex optimisation, causal inference, and the mathematics of deep learning. The second week will focus on collaborative projects and activities for young researchers, encouraging interaction among peers and senior colleagues and the development of new ideas.
Through talks, discussions, and project work, the workshop will provide a focused environment for scientific exchange and collaboration, helping to build lasting connections among researchers in the areas of mathematics, statistics, and data science.
